The Honorable Judge Carmen White

Carmen White is the elected Judge of County Criminal Court 8 in Dallas County, Texas. Carmen was elected by her peers to serve as the Presiding Judge of the Dallas County Criminal Courts and the Dallas County Criminal Courts of Appeals 1 and 2 for 2020 and 2021. Carmen received her law degree from Harvard Law School in 1999 after graduating cum laude from Baylor University in 1995. Immediately after graduation from Harvard, she practiced law at a large corporate firm in Dallas, Texas. 


Carmen pursued her passion of becoming a public servant when she joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in 2001. Carmen was the Administrative Chief Prosecutor at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. As an Administrative Chief Prosecutor, Carmen supervised the Child Abuse Division, the Sexual Assault Division, the Human Trafficking Division, the Mental Health Division and the Animal Cruelty Division. Carmen also represented the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as the Legislative Liaison for the 2007 and 2017 Legislative Sessions. Carmen was instrumental in the formation of the District Attorney’s Reformative Justice Program for offenders who suffer with mental illness. Prior to her position as an Administrative Prosecutor, Carmen was the Chief Prosecutor of the Child Abuse Division. Carmen prosecuted crimes against children for over 15 years.  


Carmen speaks nationally on issues of child abuse. She has published and presented articles regarding child abuse with the State Bar of Texas. Carmen was formerly on the Board of Trustees at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and the Board of Directors of Promise House.


Carmen is originally from Russellville, Arkansas. Carmen is the wife of Dr. Brian C. White, Ph.D and the mother of Kailyn White. Carmen is a member of the NAACP.  She attends St. Luke Community United Methodist Church. Carmen is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.


Carmen White is a hardworking, experienced and fair public servant.
